Why Online Voting?

In 2008, the Engineers and Geoscientists Act was amended to allow electronic voting. This medium of delivery is more environmentally friendly, and provides the benefits of cost savings and ease of distribution.

Paper ballots will be available by written request. Should you wish to receive a paper ballot, please mail your request to apeginfo@apeg.bc.ca or APEGBC, #200 - 4010 Regent Street, Burnaby, BC, V5C 6N2. Ballots must be received at the APEGBC office no later than noon PST, October 2, 2009.

System Security

The online ballot is being conducted using systems contracted from Everyone Counts Inc (E1C).  Operating in North America, Europe, and Australia, E1C has been a leading provider of online voting services to professional associations, governments, and numerous other public and private organizations since 1995.

The E1C online voting system is:

    • Run under high security, SSL level, 128-bit encryption with anti-fraud controls and secure log in for eligible voters.
    • Routinely certified for security and integrity purposes by external experts.
    • Maintained at the highest standards for integrity and verifiability.

This third-party system protects the anonymity of a vote. Election results will only be made available to APEGBC after the close of the election. The system will be scrutinized by three registered members of the association.
