About Whistler |
Whistler's history stretches back to the 1860's when when British Naval Officers surveyed the area and gave Whistler Mountain the original name of London Mountain. The town was built in 1978 and Blackcomb Mountain opened to skiers in 1980. Since then the town has grown to a permanent population of 9965, but of course as a tourist centre this number peaks during the winter season. Whistler offers a great variety of indoor and outdoor acitivites. From Hiking, biking, dining, shopping, or getting pampered at the spa, Whistler has something for everyone.
