UBC Okanagan School of Engineering Gains Accreditation
UBC Okanagan’s School of Engineering has received full accreditation from the Canadian Engineering Accreditation Board (CEAB) for its civil, electrical and mechanical programs. The accreditation review took place in January of this year, and was granted in early June 2010.
The Okanagan Campus of the University of British Columbia established its School of Engineering in 2005, offering three engineering programs: Civil, Electrical, and Mechanical, all designed to be capable of achieving accreditation. This graduating class of 56 students is the first ever to receive UBC Bachelor of Applied Science degrees conferred in the Okanagan.
"This is a significant achievement," says Dr. Tyseer Aboulnasr, P.Eng., Dean of the Faculty of Applied Science. "Accreditation indicates the strength of our programs and their acceptance within the professional community. We are very proud of what has been achieved by the School of Engineering over the past five years and the support and excellent relationships we have with industry."
The Canadian Engineering Accreditation Board was established by Engineers Canada in 1965 to accredit undergraduate engineering programs that provide the academic requirements necessary for licensure as a professional engineer in Canada.
