Student/Industry Night Provides Value to Students and Companies Alike

APEGBC’s Member Advantage Program for Students (APEG-MAPS) in collaboration with the UBC Engineering Undergraduate Society hosted a successful UBC Engineering Student/Industry Night on November 23, 2006.

The focus of the event was to provide engineering students with successful skills for business networking, and the opportunity to start building their industry contacts. More than 150 students and industry professionals attended. Students found the session on networking to be beneficial and enjoyed practicing their newly learned techniques with the many industry representatives.

With APEG-MAPS student membership continuing to grow, more events are planned over the next year for engineering and geoscience students at SFU, UVic and UBC. Industry participation and sponsorship help to promote greater student awareness of available employers and ensure that the quality of these events can be maintained to generate maximum value for all participants.

To get involved or to help sponsor our 2007 calendar of events, please contact Shelley Bruins, APEGBC’s Student Program Coordinator, at 604-412-4860 or sbruins@apeg.bc.ca, or visit www.apeg.bc.ca/maps/events.html for more information.

The Association would like to thank all industry participants who came out to share their industry knowledge, experience and advice with the UBC Engineering students. A special thank you is extended to the following corporate sponsors for their generous contribution to our event:
