APEGBC Council Appoints New Executive Director
Timothy Smith PGeo EngL, APEGBC President, is pleased to announce the appointment of Derek Doyle, P.Eng., MBA, CBM, as Executive Director and Registrar.

As chief executive officer reporting to APEGBC Council, Mr. Doyle will be responsible for all aspects of the Association’s operations. Mr. Doyle succeeds Anne Garrett, P.Eng., who resigned in October to pursue new opportunities after having served as Executive Director since September 2003.
Mr. Doyle has broad experience in industry, consulting and government. In his public sector career, he has been Assistant Deputy Minister for the Manitoba Ministry of Natural Resources and Director of the Ontario Environmental Assessment Branch. Most recently, Mr. Doyle was Commissioner for the BC Oil and Gas Commission from 2001 to 2006, where he developed a consultation process and negotiated agreements with First Nations.
A graduate of University College Dublin, Mr. Doyle has a Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical), and holds a Certificate of Business Management, as well as an MBA in Public Policy, from the University of Manitoba.
Mr. Doyle brings with him an understanding of regulatory challenges facing government and the professions of engineering and geoscience. He will work together with Council to meet the objectives of APEGBC’s strategic plan.
