Salary Seminar and Student/Industry Networking Reception
APEGBC is working with the UBC Student Development office to host a Salary Seminar and Industry Reception on February 10, 2009. The Salary Seminar and Industry Reception focuses on providing engineering and geoscience students with tools for salary negotiation, insight on what companies are looking for in an employee, and the opportunity to start building industry contacts.
Dr. Elizabeth Croft, P.Eng., Associate Director of the UBC Department of Mechanical Engineering, is the speaker for this event. Dr. Croft will be discussing current salary trends as well as some tips on negotiating your salary. President of McElhanney Consulting Services, Chris Newcomb, P.Eng., will also be speaking at this event. Mr. Newcomb is the Chair of the Association of Canadian Engineering Companies, and he will be discussing the different characteristics that companies look for in a new employee.
We are pleased to extend an invitation to APEGBC industry professionals who are interested in sharing their industry experiences and advice with students as a part of an industry mixer, or being an industry sponsor. The Industry Sponsor Form is available for download here.
For our student members, we encourage you to take advantage of this great opportunity to learn more about your future profession and begin building a valuable network of industry contacts. Students can register online for this free event at www.apeg.bc.ca/event/.
