APEGBC President To Speak on Climate Change And The Professions
Join the APEGBC Vancouver Branch as they welcome APEGBC President, Timothy Smith, P.Geo., Eng.L. to discuss climate change and the leadership role the professions must take to protect the public and the environment on March 14, 2007. Relevant government ministries have been invited to attend this Branch meeting and to brief attendees on what the government is doing.
Recently, Timothy Smith was selected as a speaker for former U.S. Vice President Al Gore’s Climate Project. Stemming from the thought-provoking movie, An Inconvenient Truth, 600 scientists, corporate leaders and environmental professionals were tasked with raising awareness both individually and corporately. Smith’s role on this speaking team is fuelled by his love of the outdoors and professional geoscience work in the field. He has seen first-hand the effects of global warming and is passionate about the professions taking a leadership role on this critical issue.
Sustainability, triple bottom line and corporate social responsibility are more than just buzzwords; these are relevant concepts to the professions.
