Members Reminded to Stamp or Seal Their Work
Section 20 (9) of the Engineers and Geoscientists Act explicitly requires members to seal or stamp work that they have undertaken in a professional capacity. However in some recent applications filed with the Environmental Assessment Office, the technical information has not been signed or stamped by the authors. Following correspondence between APEGBC’s Environment Committee and the EAO, Association representatives met with the EAO to discuss the issue.

Canstruction® Vancouver Launched - Engineers versus Architects: A Professional Food Fight?
January 9 marked the official launch of Canstruction® Vancouver with a reception at the Architectural Institute of BC’s downtown Vancouver office. Previous Canstruction® teams, corporate sponsors, the Greater Vancouver Food Bank Society were in attendance, along with representatives from teams competing in the the Engineers versus Architects challenge, a first-ever friendly duel between the professions to determine which profession can turn out the most teams and win the most prizes.

Foundation Recognizes Outstanding Student Achievement
2006 saw a total of 17 university engineering and geoscience students receive either $1,000 APEG-MAPS scholarships or $1,000 BC Hydro/APEGBC third-year scholarships in recognition of their achievements and contributions.

CCPE Advanced Studies Scholarships - Call for Entries
APEGBC’s Member Advantage Program for Students in collaboration with the UBC Engineering Undergraduate Society hosted a successful UBC Engineering Student/Industry Night on November 23, 2006.
The focus of the event was to provide engineering students with successful skills for business networking, and the opportunity to start building their industry contacts.

A complaint was made to the Association regarding a concept review performed by Mr. Banwait. The matter was referred to the Investigation Committee, which decided it was appropriate to investigate the matter and eventually recommended that an inquiry be held.
