Promotional Supplement for National Engineering and Geoscience Week Cancelled
This year, National Engineering and Geoscience Week (NEGW) will take place from February 27 to March 8, 2009. This event is a national celebration of the engineering and geoscience professions and is an excellent opportunity to increase public awareness of the professions. In previous years, APEGBC has partnered with the Vancouver Sun to publish an information supplement promoting the value of BC’s engineers and geoscientists to clients and to the community. This publication reaches over 500,000 readers of the Vancouver Sun.
As previously reported in the November/December 2008 issue of Innovation, APEGBC has been forced to make significant cuts to the 2008/2009 budget as a result of the failure to pass the fee bylaw last fall. Unfortunately, profile raising activities such as the NEGW supplement fall within the areas having to be cut.
The association sincerely appreciates the support of members’ firms in advertising in the supplement in the past. We are hopeful that with ratification of this bylaw in the future, we will be able to continue this important initiative in years to come.
