Input Sought on Resources for Healthy Environments
Preventable illnesses and injuries have been linked to the way people interact with their workplaces, recreation spaces, schools and communities. Land use, transportation and landscape planners, engineers and design professionals play a key role in developing built environments that promote health.
Professionals from the health sector have a shared role with planners and design professionals in creating and advocating for environments that support healthy lifestyle choices. With the aim of developing resources to better position planners and designers to support decisions that promote healthier built environments, the Provincial Health Services Authority (PHSA) is conducting a survey to assess best approaches to educate planners and design professionals on the topic of health impacts related to the built environment.
The survey is available online and takes roughly 5 minutes to complete. It can be found at www.surveymonkey.com/s/M2LQT55. This survey will be used to develop educational programs for planners and design professionals, and your input will help to ensure that the resources are effective. The deadline for survey responses is January 15, 2010.
