APEGBC’s Council held an intensive two-day planning session in late November to discuss issues of strategic importance to the association and to the professions. One of the key outcomes of the session was the generation of the Council work plan for the coming year.

Organizational Risk Management Pilot Program Underway
APEGBC is moving forward with the implementation of an Organizational Professional Risk Management and Quality Assurance Pilot Program. This program has the end goal of reducing professional risk at the organizational level, recognizing the significant influence that companies employing engineers or geoscientists have on the practice of the professions.

Opportunity for Internationally Trained Engineers to Receive Iron Ring
Camp 23 of the Corporation of the Seven Wardens will hold its 2010 spring Ritual of the Calling of an Engineer Ceremony at the University of Victoria, Saturday, March 13, 2010. While this ceremony is organized primarily for University of Victoria engineering graduands, internationally trained engineers are welcome to receive their iron rings on that date on a space available basis.

A complaint was made to the Association relating to Mr. Milligan’s engineering services for a sewerage system on a property in Bridge Lake, BC. It was alleged that Mr. Milligan did not comply with the Sewerage System Regulation or the Provincial Sewerage System Standard Practice Manual.
