Opportunity for Internationally Trained Engineers to Receive Iron Ring

Iron Ring Camp 23 of the Corporation of the Seven Wardens, Victoria, BC will hold its spring Ritual of the Calling of an Engineer Ceremony at the University of Victoria on March 10, 2012 at 2 pm. Particpation in the ceremony is open to eligible internationally trained engineers (and graduates from other accredited Canadian engineering programs who may have missed their local ceremonies) who wish to be obligated and receive their iron rings on that date.

Eligibility to receive an iron ring is academically based upon graduation from a CEAB accredited Canadian engineering degree program or its equivalent. For internationally trained engineers and graduates from a non-accredited Canadian engineering program, Camp 23 relies solely on registration with APEGBC as a professional engineer (P.Eng.) or Engineer-in-Training (EIT) as evidence that he or she has fulfilled this academic requirement and submission of personal supporting documentation is unnecessary.

Please note that attending ring recipients will be responsible for their travel expenses to the University of Victoria. The ceremony fee of $30 includes the purchase of the recipient’s ring and the preparation of a certificate.

Interested engineers are requested to contact Colin Smith, P.Eng., Chief Warden, Camp 23 at camp23@ironring.ca no later than Wednesday, February 15, 2012. Background information, Camp 23’s registration procedure, logistical details and directions will be sent to respondents.
