Electronic Balloting Option Unavailable for 2007/2008 Council Election Bylaw Vote
As reported in the May/June issue of Innovation, APEGBC was awaiting the completion of the legislative process for Bill 12, which contains a number of changes to the Engineers and Geoscientists Act. Among these changes was the option for Council to authorize electronic balloting.
Council put in the place the process for electronic balloting but the changes to our act were not proclaimed into law prior to the legislature’s summer recess. As a result, APEGBC cannot offer online voting for the 2007/2008 Council Election and bylaw vote. Instead, all members will receive an election package in September as in previous years. The Association hopes to see the act changes proclaimed sometime in Fall 2007, after which online voting can be offered for the following year. Members will be notified when the act changes are proclaimed.
