The 2011/2012 APEGBC Council election and bylaw vote will be conducted by electronic ballot this fall and members will be sent an e-mail in late August with instructions on the electronic voting procedure. Two Bylaw Amendments Sought this Fall
This fall, bylaw amendments to modernize two registration functions will be put before the membership for ratification. The changes are part of the Association’s ongoing work to ensure its governing legislation reflects modern practices.

Joint Task Forces Report on P.Tech. and Limited Licences
In December, APEGBC and the Applied Science Technologists and Technicians of BC (ASTTBC) formed two joint task forces to examine and assess systems of licensure and registration affecting both organizations. The reports and recommendations of both task forces were brought forward to the APEGBC and ASTTBC Councils for consideration.

Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Division Formed
Council has approved terms of reference creating the new Division of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (DEERE). This division of APEGBC will provide a multi-disciplinary environment in which to enhance the knowledge and stature of clean energy engineering within the public and the Association.

Discipline and Enforcement
Resignation of Membership – Jerzy “George” Kaminski
The September/October 2008 edition of Innovation reported a decision of the Association’s Discipline Committee finding Mr. Kaminski liable of unprofessional conduct. Mr. Kaminski was reprimanded, ordered to undergo a practice review at his expense and pay the Association costs in the amount of $13,500.

Consent Order – Dr. Anthony Salway, P.Geo.
In lieu of proceeding to a disciplinary inquiry, Dr. Salway has signed a Consent Order admitting that his conduct respecting draft stability and erosion assessment reports prepared for the BC Ministry of Forests in 2002 constituted a breach of the Engineers and Geoscientists Act.
