APEGBC on Advisory Committee for Unified BC Green Building Code

It its Throne Speech on February 13, 2007, the BC government announced that a new unified BC Green Building Code would be developed as one of the Province’s initiatives to address global climate change.  This project aims to identify and remove barriers for green buildings within provincial codes and regulations, and identify and propose new provisions for green buildings regulation. 

On May 24, 2007, the BC Building Policy Branch held a consultative workshop with representatives from industry, including APEGBC. Subsequently, the Building Policy Branch formed a Green Building Industry Advisory Committee.  James Blake, P.Eng. and Blair McCarry, P.Eng. will represent APEGBC on this committee. APEGBC Council has struck the Green Building Code Task Force to work with the Association’s two representatives on the Advisory committee.
