Celebrate Father’s Day - Build a Robot
The University of Victoria is celebrating Father’s Day with make-your-own robot workshops for the family. On June 14, fathers and their children (grades five and up) are welcome to drop by and build a Robo-dog that performs tricks in a futuristic dog show.
This workshop, hosted by UVic’s Women in Engineering and Computer Science outreach program, offers an excellent opportunity for kids and dads to learn and apply computer science and engineering concepts while having creative, hands-on fun.
Workshop participants will use LEGO® MINDSTORMS® NXT, a robotics toolset for children to build and program robots. The cost of the workshops is $20 for each child and $5 for each father. Participants are asked to bring a lunch. For more information about the workshops or to register visit wcs.csc.uvic.ca/?q=node/75 or call (250) 472-5851.
