Technical Bulletin Released for Mid-Rise Wood-frame Buildings
Changes to the BC Building Code came into effect on Monday, April 6, 2009, allowing mid-rise wood-frame residential construction up to six storeys. With funding support from the Building and Safety Policy Branch of the Ministry of Housing and Social Development, APEGBC has developed a technical and practice bulletin on engineering issues related to mid-rise buildings.

APEGBC to Launch Student Job Board
APEGBC is launching a web-based Job Board to connect its student members (APEG-MAPS) with employers throughout the province. This Job Board will provide a link for students to gain access to engineering and geoscience experience while they are still in university or college. It is intended to benefit not only students, but also engineering and geoscience firms by connecting them with the next generation of engineering and geoscience graduates.

Canadian Engineering Leaders Sign Summit Declaration
The first ever National Engineering Summit, held May 19-21 in Montreal, brought Canadian engineers together with experts from a broad range of sectors and disciplines. At the summit, a declaration was signed by members of the Canadian Engineering Leaderhip Forum (CELF) as an expression of the engineering profession’s resolve to help ensure the present and future success and well-being of Canada and its citizens.
