APEGBC Student Members Surveyed
APEGBC recently conducted a survey to assess the effectiveness of the Member Advantage Program for Students (MAPS). This survey was sent out to our current APEG-MAPS members to gain their insight on how best to improve the program. We received a great response as well as a number of valuable suggestions.
We are currently in the process of implementing some of those suggestions for improvement. For example, survey respondents indicated that they wanted assistance from the association to find summer jobs related to engineering and geoscience. As a result, we are now creating a job board for undergraduate students to meet this need. This job board will be for students only and will not have jobs requiring a professional designation.
Awareness of the MAPS Program was also a concern among the respondents, who felt we should market our program more prominently on campus. We will be designing new posters to place around campus and have also created an APEG-MAPS Facebook page to establish a greater online presence.
The majority of our respondents feel that scholarships and industry nights are the MAPS program’s most valuable benefits. The industry nights are the program’s most utilized benefit with 71% of respondents indicating they have previously attended. A notable 91% of the respondents indicated that they plan on becoming professional members.
APEGBC would like to thank everyone who participated in the APEG-MAPS survey. This feedback will assist APEGBC in improving its services to better serve MAPS members.
