APEGBC Applauds Bill to Reduce Ultimate Limitation Period
A bill to reduce the ultimate limitation period from 30 years to 10 for professional engineers, geoscientists, architects, dentists and accountants was introduced in the BC Legislature on June 2. If passed, the bill would bring British Columbia into line with Alberta, Ontario and Saskatchewan where civil liability is 10 or 15 years.

Testing Procedures Revised for Pipes, Tubing, Fittings and Valves
The CAN/ULC-S102 standard “Test for Surface Burning Characteristics of Building Materials and Assemblies” has been updated to CAN/ULC-S102-07. The new standard revises the testing procedures for pipes, tubing and plastic fittings and valves. All combustible piping systems must now be retested and listed to the new standard.

Revisions Modernize Registration Bylaws
Bylaw amendments to modernize two registration functions will be put before the membership for ratification this fall. The proposed amendments address resignations and academic requirements for registration, and are part of APEGBC’s ongoing work to ensure our governing legislation reflects modern practices.

APEGBC Council Approves 2011/2012 Operating Budget
The Association’s 2011/2012 operating budget was approved by Council at its meeting in May.This budget reflects efficiencies across association programs, and will not require a member fee increase for 2012.
