Submissions Invited for 2009 Environmental Awards

APEGBC's Environment Committee encourages submissions for the 2009 Environmental Awards, which highlight the role of professional engineers and geoscientists in responsible environmental management. Awards are offered in two categories: 1) Concept and Assessment, and 2) Design, Construction and Monitoring.

Initially, brief (500 words) written nominations describing the project, the reasons it should win an award and the names of the engineers/geoscientists involved are screened by the Committee. Subsequently, up to three finalists in each category are invited to submit comprehensive reports with appropriate supporting materials.

Sustainability considerations are particularly emphasized during project evaluation. The winning submissions will receive their awards at APEGBC's 2009 Annual Conference, to be held October 15-17 in Victoria, BC.

The deadline for initial 500-word nominations is March 27, 2009.  Full details on the submission process and awards criteria can be found in the Submission Rules and Judging Criteria at www.apeg.bc.ca/services/awards/environmentawards.html.
