2009 President’s Awards Call for Nominations
Do you know of or work with an outstanding professional engineer or professional geoscientist who should be recognized for their contributions to their profession, the community or to APEGBC?
Tell us—take advantage of this opportunity to bring to our attention those APEGBC members who exemplify the best the professions of engineering and geoscience have to offer. We want to give members who go the extra distance in their professional, business and community lives the recognition they so richly deserve, and we want to tell their peers and the public about their exceptional achievements, contributions and service.
We invite you to help us identify worthy candidates for the 2009 President’s Awards, providing all the details about your nominee. Individuals may be nominated for one or more of the following awards:
- R.A. McLachlan Memorial Award – This award recognizes a professional engineer who combines a solid professional career with outstanding service to the community.
- C.J. Westerman Memorial Award – This award recognizes a professional geoscientist who combines a solid professional career with outstanding dedication to advancing public recognition of professional geoscience in BC.
- Meritorious Achievement Award – This award recognizes distinctive and outstanding achievements in professional or technical fields.
- Professional Service Award – This award is presented to APEGBC members who have made a substantial contribution of service to the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of BC or to technical and learned societies and organizations.
- Community Service Award – This award is presented to APEGBC members who have made a substantial contribution to the well-being of their community in one or more of the fields of social service, church work, politics, education, sport, recreation or the arts.
- Teaching Award for Excellence in Engineering and Geoscience – This award recognizes individuals who are outstanding transferors of knowledge to engineers and geoscientists, past, present and future, and who, by their superior performance, enhance the quality of engineering and geoscience education and the general professions.
- Young Professional Award – this award recognizes achievement by an outstanding your professional member in their chosen field.
These awards are a meaningful way to recognize the outstanding service and accomplishments of APEGBC members. They will be presented at the President’s Awards Dinner at the Association’s annual conference & AGM on October 15-17 in Victoria, BC.
The deadline for nominations is April 17, 2009. If you’re not sure which award is best suited to your nominee, please don’t hesitate to make a submission as this can be determined by the awards selection committee.
How to nominate someone:
- Go to www.apeg.bc.ca/services/awards/awards.html, download and complete the nomination form.
- Draft a letter of nomination (this is a brief statement describing why you feel the nominee(s) should receive the award).
- Include an abbreviated Résumé/CV for each nominee
- Include other supporting material, if available (eg, newspaper clippings, letters of support)
- Return all completed forms and supporting material to the Association office on or before April 17, 2009.
