Supreme Court Decision Impacts Tendering Process
The Supreme Court of Canada has overturned a decision of the BC Court of Appeal with significance for the design and construction industry. The case is relevant to the drafting of procurement documents, the bidding processes for construction and other contracts as well as the consultant selection process.

Bursary Offered for Resource Sector Engineering or Geoscience Studies
The Division of Engineers and Geoscientists in the Resource Sector is offering a $2,000 bursary to students in an accredited post-secondary or post-graduate program in BC. Studies should relate directly to professional engineering and/or geoscience in the resource sector.

Agreement Notice – Edward Kai Yuen (Ed) Lim, P.Eng., Burnaby, BC
The March/April 2009 issue of Innovation contained a notice regarding the outcome of Mr. Lim’s disciplinary inquiry, in which he was found liable for one of four charges of unprofessional conduct. The entire matter has now been resolved by agreement.

Earth Science Graduate Scholarships Available
Geoscience BC is offering 10 scholarships in the amount of $5,000 in May 2010. Students in an earth science or geoscience masters or doctorate program who are working on a thesis topic related to mineral or oil and gas exploration are eligible to apply.
