Determination and Order - Christian Mordhorst, P.Eng., Nelson, BC

A complaint was made to the Association including an allegation that a retaining wall, which Mr. Mordhorst had designed and submitted for a residential subdivision, was flawed. The matter was referred to the Investigation Committee, which recommended that an inquiry be held.  A Notice of Inquiry was issued by the Association alleging that Mr. Mordhorst demonstrated unprofessional conduct by his design of a retaining wall, signed, sealed and submitted by him, which did not have an adequate factor of safety.

In lieu of proceeding to an inquiry, Mr. Mordhorst accepted an Order that he was in breach of the Engineers and Geoscientists Act, and accepted as his penalty:

  • A reprimand; and
  • That he undergo a Practice Review at his own expense.
