Fee Bylaw Amendment Fails
A total of 7,751 members (representing 39.3% of eligible voters) voted in the fee bylaw amendment, which proposed raising the annual member fee to $335. Of these, 59.8% voted in favour of the fee bylaw amendment. As two-thirds majority is required for bylaw ratification, the amendment does not pass.
Council and staff are currently working to adjust the budget accordingly. As the increase has not gone forward, it is necessary to significantly scale back regulatory functions. Mindful of the Association's purpose as a self-regulating body, these cuts are undertaken with great regret.
More information on the cost-saving actions that will be implemented by the Association will be made available in the May/June issue of Innovation.
