Fee Bylaw Amendment Fails
A total of 7,751 members (representing 39.3% of eligible voters) voted in the fee bylaw amendment, which proposed raising the annual member fee to $335. Of these, 59.8% voted in favour of the fee bylaw amendment. As two-thirds majority is required for bylaw ratification, the amendment does not pass.

The deadline for submissions for the 2008/2009 Project Highlights is Friday, May 8. This special pictorial feature, published annually in the July/August issue of Innovation, showcases the diverse activities of BC’s professional engineers and geoscientists both at home and abroad. Submissions relating to all engineering and geoscience disciplines are encouraged.

Energy Efficiency Revisions Made To Regulations for Windows
The BC Ministry of Energy, Mines and Petroleum Resources has approved revised energy efficiency regulations for windows, glazing, doors and skylights. The purpose of these BC Energy Efficiency Act regulations is to improve the energy efficiency of manufactured fenestration products for new and existing buildings.

Canada’s first National Engineering Summit will be held May 19-21, 2009 in Montreal, Quebec. This three-day summit will introduce delegates to the current and future conditions within health, the environment, safety and security, competitiveness in a global economy, and quality of life, and will provide an opportunity to report and recommend future directions to the engineering community.
