End Hunger Through a Friendly Challenge
If engineering is truly a blend of creativity, technology and science, then Canstruction® is a worthy event that can display all the profession has to offer. In its fifth year, Canstruction® is an international design/build competition that brings together engineers, architects, students and other designers to create structures entirely out of non-perishable food which is later donated to local food banks. The theme for the 2007 Canstruction® competition is Favourite Things, a broad category that will allow for artistic licence to entrants. From March 4 - 11, 2007, the public will view and vote on the best structure at the Cruise Ship Terminal at Canada Place in Vancouver.
This year APEGBC has issued a challenge to the Architectural Institute of British Columbia (AIBC). APEGBC has thrown down the gauntlet to determine, by popular vote, whose membership can build the best structure out of non-perishable food. Prizes will also be given to the association with the highest member participation. APEGBC is soliciting member participation by way of corporate teams or member teams to compete in this event to raise food for the Vancouver Food Bank. The Association will also be confirming opportunities for Branches outside of the Lower Mainland to participate.
Team details and more information will be available soon on the APEGBC website. Find inspiration by viewing astounding structures built entirely from non-perishable food at: http://www.canstruction.org/slideshow.html
