APEGBC participated in the tradeshow of the Union of BC Municipalities’ (UBCM) convention, September 24-28, 2007.  The annual convention is attended by elected officials and staff from municipal governments, as well as the provincial government, and APEGBC took the opportunity to promote the work of the Association and its members to convention delegates.

Fostering positive relations with government at all levels, APEGBC representatives engaged tradeshow attendees, raising awareness about what APEGBC does and how it can work with government to protect the public’s interest in engineering and geoscience matters. APEGBC actively collaborates with government to ensure that best practices are met when setting legislation that affects members’ roles in protecting public safety.

On an ongoing basis, the Association is working to demonstrate the positive impact its members have on public safety and the economy in BC while being a resource of technical knowledge and experience. By keeping government informed of the important work of APEGBC members, the Association is working to deliver clear and consistent messages about the value of the professions to British Columbia.
