Discipline Notice – Avnash Banwait, P.Eng., Surrey, BC
Avnash Banwait, P.Eng. accepted a Determination and Order in 2007 for having sealed a Record of Professional Structural Concept Review where the supporting plans were not properly identified and the plans and documents contained numerous errors. As part of his penalty, Mr. Banwait was ordered to undergo a practice review at his own expense. In addition, Mr. Banwait was restricted from performing concept reviews until he had satisfied all the terms of the penalty. Mr. Banwait’s practice review was found not in compliance. The matter was forwarded to the Reviewing Member of the Discipline Committee for consideration of further penalties, in accordance with the terms of the Determination and Order and section 34 of the Engineers and Geoscientists Act.
Upon consideration of submissions from Mr. Banwait, the Reviewing Member ordered the following further penalties:
- Mr. Banwait shall pay $1,786.59, being the balance of the money owing for his practice review;
- Mr. Banwait’s civil and structural work shall be peer reviewed for a period of twelve months commencing 60 days from the date of the Order (October 14, 2008); and
- if Mr. Banwait does not comply with the conditions of the Order in the required time, his membership in the Association shall be suspended until all unmet conditions have been satisfied.
