Discipline Notice – Dennis Shiu, P.Eng., Burnaby, BC
Dennis Shiu, P.Eng. accepted a Stipulated Order in 2006 for issuing Schedules C-B under the Building Code for a building that had significant deficiencies. As part of his penalty, Mr. Shiu was ordered to undergo a practice review at his own expense. Mr. Shiu’s practice review was found not in compliance. The matter was referred to the Reviewing Member of the Discipline Committee for consideration of further penalties, in accordance with the terms of the Stipulated Order and section 34 of the Engineers and Geoscientists Act. Upon consideration of submissions from Mr. Shiu, the Reviewing Member ordered the following further penalties:
- Mr. Shiu shall pay $257.87, being the balance of the money owing for his practice review;
- Mr. Shiu’s work shall be peer reviewed for a period of twelve months commencing 60 days from the date of the Order (October 14, 2008); and
- if Mr. Shiu does not comply with the conditions of the Order in the required time, his membership in the Association shall be suspended until all unmet conditions have been satisfied.
