Deadline to Update Annual Billing Contact Information - Tuesday, October 17, 2006
Members who have recently changed their mailing and/or e-mail address should note that they will need to update their member contact information in order to receive the 2007 Annual Fee Renewal Invoice and Information. The fee renewal package will be e-mailed out in late October, while the Canada Post renewal package will be mailed mid-November. The deadline to update member contact information is Tuesday, October 17, 2006. Members are strongly encouraged to provide a current e-mail address in order to minimize postage, printing, and other costs. The "online only" fee renewal process is the most efficient and environmentally friendly way of renewing membership, and over 7,000 members have already elected to receive the 2007 fee renewal package by e-mail only.

2006 BC Building Code Now Available
The 2006 BC Building Code and BC Fire Code are now available to the public. The BC Building code includes Part 7 - BC Plumbing Services. The new 2006 Code requirements will apply to all buildings constructed on or after December 15, 2006, except those buildings for which a permit application has been accepted prior to December 15, 2006.

Annual Fee Renewal - Payment Deadline is December 31, 2006
Under the Engineers and Geoscientists Act, the annual fee payment deadline is December 31, 2006 and anyone who has not paid the annual fee before March 1, 2007 will be struck from the register. You must be registered with APEGBC to practise engineering or geoscience in BC.

Stipulated Order - Dennis T.Y. Shiu, P.Eng., Burnaby, BC
A Notice of Inquiry was issued by the Association alleging the Mr. Shiu demonstrated unprofessional conduct in his field reviews of a mixed use, multi-tenant building in Delta and provision of Schedule C-B. In lieu of proceeding to an inquiry, Mr. Shiu accepted a Stipulated Order admitting that he was in breach of the Engineers and Geoscientists Act.
