Expressions of Interest Sought for New Environmental Engineering and Geoscience Division

An interest has been expressed to create a new Division within APEGBC to enhance the fields of environmental engineering and geoscience in relation to contaminated sites investigations, remediation, monitoring and risk assessment; contaminant hydrogeology; brownfields; and landfill issues pertaining to soil and groundwater quality and monitoring.

The Division would be open to members practicing in (or training to practice in) the these fields, with the overall goals of:

  • Acting for members on issues pertaining to the practice of environmental engineering and geoscience;
  • Enhancing the knowledge and stature of environmental engineering and geoscience within the public and the Association, through promotion and advancement of practices;
  • Providing regular opportunities for members to express ideas and concerns, voice opinions to the Association and regulatory bodies, and be actively involved in the creation of new regulations or standards;
  • Creating and providing Continuing Professional Development opportunities for members (through seminars, field trips, travelling workshops and other events);
  • Communicating valuable information to the members through newsletters or networking events; and
  • Liaising and developing relationships with other associations.

If you are an engineer or geoscientist working within the environmental field and are interested in the creation of this Division, please contact Bryan Brassington GIT at 250-860-8424, or by e-mail at new-division@apeg.bc.ca with your expression of interest. Input into the direction and goals of this new Division, as well as volunteers to help the Division get off the ground are also welcome.
