2008 Compensation Survey Results Available
This year, over 2,300 members from across BC, the rest of Canada and around the world took time to provide valuable information on their professional compensation and benefits.
Analysis of the survey data suggests that compensation for APEGBC members has more than kept up with inflation since the 2006 survey. An examination of total annual compensation by responsibility point range for all valid respondents living in BC shows that, on average, the median compensation for these APEGBC members has increased by 7.4% from 2006 to 2008, or 3.7% annually. This is almost 32.6% higher than the average annual Canadian inflation rate of 2.79% for the period July 2006 to July 2008 as reported by the Bank of Canada.
The provides information on median total compensation values by responsibility point range and compares this with the 2006 figures. If you have not already done so, you can determine your own responsibility point value by using APEGBC’s Employment Responsibility Evaluation tool at www.apeg.bc.ca/compensationsurvey.
The complete 2008 Report on Members’ Compensation and Benefits is now available on the APEGBC website. It provides a snapshot of engineers’ and geoscientists’ base salary and total professional compensation based on the responses of the 1,733 BC participants who provided valid responses to this year’s survey. The information provided in the report reflects the annual compensation and benefits earned by APEGBC members employed in full-time positions in BC, and correlates these values to determinants and external factors such as responsibility level, industry and region.
APEGBC Council and staff would like to thank all members who participated in the 2008 compensation survey.
