Stipulated Order - William K.T. Tong, P.Eng., Vancouver, BC
A complaint was received by the Association regarding fabrication drawings for a bridge that Mr. Tong had signed and sealed. The complaint was investigated by the Association's designated reviewer and Investigation Committee, which recommended that an inquiry be held.
A Notice of Inquiry was issued by the Association alleging the Mr. Tong demonstrated unprofessional conduct in signing and sealing the drawings when no concept review had been performed and when the drawings contained a number of unacceptable design components.
In lieu of proceeding to an inquiry, Mr. Tong accepted a Stipulated Order admitting that he was in breach of the Engineers and Geoscientists Act, and accepted as his penalty:
- a reprimand;
- payment of the legal costs for the investigation of this matter in the amount of $3,238.55; and
- a practice review (general and technical) at his own expense.
