Injunction – Randy Hartford, Nanaimo, BC

The March/April 2007 issue of Innovation reported on Mr. Hartford’s disciplinary inquiry.

On March 1, 2007, Mr. Hartford was struck from the register for failure to pay his 2007 annual dues. In late March, the Association received a copy of a document signed and sealed by Mr. Hartford on March 7. When confronted with this document, Mr. Hartford applied for reinstatement. His reinstatement application was denied by Council in May.

In July, the Association received a copy of a document signed and sealed by Mr. Hartford on June 1, 2007. The Association filed an application in BC Supreme Court for an injunction to stop Mr. Hartford from practising engineering. The application was adjourned to September 6, 2007 but the Court made an interim order that Mr. Hartford deliver his seal to the Association and promise not to practice engineering during the adjournment.

At the hearing on September 6, 2007, an injunction was granted by the BC Supreme Court against Randy Hartford prohibiting him from practising engineering or using any restricted title.
