Annual Conference and Hotel Early Price Deadline Approaching
Members are reminded that the early fee deadline for Annual Conference registration is Monday, September 14, 2009. After this date, full fees will be in effect. Additionally, please note that in order to secure the APEGBC conference delegate rates at the conference host hotel, the Fairmont Empress, room reservations must also be made by this date. After that, room rates will be based on availability.

Cleaner Gasoline Regulation Amendment Intentions Paper for Consultation
The BC Ministry of Environment plans to amend the Cleaner Gasoline Regulation under the Environmental Management Act. The proposed contents of the amendment are described in a policy intentions paper for consultation which is available for review online. The deadline to submit feedback is September 28, 2009.

APEGBC’s Mentoring Program is pleased to offer a web-based mentor/mentee matching database. This newly developed online tool assists mentees in finding potential mentors who can help them achieve their goal of professional registration.

Salary Seminar and Student/Industry Networking Event
APEGBC is working with SFU Career Services to host a Salary Seminar and Industry Reception on September 29, 2009. This event aims to provide engineering and geoscience students tools for salary negotiation and the opportunity to start building their industry contacts. APEGBC members are invited to come out share their industry experience and advice with students.

Engineering and Geoscience Undergraduate Scholarships
The APEGBC Foundation is offering a number of scholarships to engineering and geoscience students attending BC universities. Three different scholarships are currently available this fall: the 2009 BC Hydro/APEGBC scholarships, APEG-MAPS scholarships, and the 2009 South Central Branch Thompson Rivers University Engineering Transfer scholarship.

CCPG Obtains Funding to Support Development of Geoscience Professional Practice Guidelines Framework
The Canadian Council of Professional Geoscientists has been granted $95,000 in support funding from the federal government to assist the development of a collective framework for geoscience professional practice guidelines.
