The seminar offers a review of the most recent changes in the CSA Standards on cement and concrete as they pertain to specifications and construction. The topics covered in the presentation will include:
- Concrete exposure classifications and their appropriate selection
- Additions to the latest CSA A23.1 Standard – what’s new?
- Performance versus prescriptive methods of specifying concrete – what’s better?
- New designation of cement types and planned changes in the cement makeup
- Supplementary cementing materials (SCM), their use and role in sustainable design
The seminar will also highlight some recent studies on the sustainable aspects of cement and concrete.
Andy Vizer P.Eng. LEED AP - Director of Engineering, Cement Association of Canada
Andy Vizer as been involved with the Cement Association of Canada for the past 27 years, previously as the Regional Structural Engineer. He has gained experience with a wide range of concrete and cement applications including structures, pavements, materials, construction techniques, and sustainable design. As well, Andy has been involved with the SEABC Certificate Program in Structural Engineering as a lecturer and coordinator for the past several years. He is a former ACI BC Chapter director, former Chair of the VSEG Society and a CSCE Fellow.
Registered attendees unable to attend the event may designate a substitute, provided APEGBC receives written notification at least one business day prior to the event. Registration information for the substitute attendee should accompany the notice. If notice of cancellation of registration is received:
• 5 business days or more prior to the event, a refund will be processed
• Less than 5 business days prior to the event, no refunds apply
Substitute registrants are permitted up to the day of the seminar and member/non-member fees will be applied. The organizers reserve the right to cancel the event if less than the minimum required participants have registered. Liability limited to registration fee.
