What principles and processes can be used to effectively engage and negotiate with First Nation governments to reach successful agreements in resource management and development? What is the role and responsibility of engineers and geoscientists in this process of consultation and accommodation? How can different worldviews around land and resources be described and understood effectively? Using case studies, introductions to historical and legal foundations, instructor experience and circle discussions, this seminar will give participants a broad understanding of the basis for, and principles of effective cross-cultural consultation in British Columbia.
