The world is in recession and businesses are struggling. Government, on the other hand, will continue to need resources to govern, provide its services and meet its objectives despite a declining global economy. In the fiscal year 2007-2008, the provincial government spent approximately $2B on various service contracts and $50M on construction contracts.
You have probably seen some of these contracts advertised on the government internet portal; however, a large number of these contract opportunities are not widely advertised or known.
This seminar will be of interest to those who are looking for and wanting to find out more about:
- government contract opportunities, where and how to find them;
- how government procures its needs for services;
- what drives government procurement;
- what government is looking for;
- common errors made when bidding on government contracts; and
- how to avoid them.
This is a chance to hear and benefit from a government subject matter expert who spent his entire provincial government career working within and learning about the complex world of government procurement and contracts.
Richard Wong, MPA - Richard's Consulting
Richard spent the first four plus years of his provincial government career with the B.C. Office of the Auditor General after graduating from the University of Victoria's School of Public Administration in 1985 with a Master's Degree in Public Administration. He then joined the Ministry of Environment in 1990 to serve as a contract administrator and advisor for the ministry.
Over the years, Richard has seen many changes to government and has acquired a career's worth of experience and knowledge about government procurement before retiring in May, 2009 from the Ministry of Environment, Ministry of Agriculture and Lands, including the Integrated Land Management Bureau after almost 25 years with the Province of B.C. to pursue a long time dream of becoming a consultant within his field of expertise.
Richard has a passion for the subject. He loves to help others, share information and when asked to provide learning sessions, his delivery is simple, enjoyable and always informative.
Richard has taught over 60 training sessions within government covering in excess of 1,000 provincial government employees.
