Speakers

Dr. Diana Allen, P.Geo

Dr. Diana Allen is a P.Geo and Professor of Hydrogeology in the Department of Earth Sciences at Simon Fraser University. She obtained her PhD from Carleton University in 1996. She has expertise in modelling sub-regional to regional scale groundwater systems, climate change impacts on groundwater, groundwater-surface water interaction, fractured rock hydrogeology, and recharge and aquifer vulnerability mapping. She is a member of the Province of BC Ground Water Advisory Board.

R. Allan Dakin, P.Eng.

Allan Dakin, P. Eng., MSc (Hydrogeology), is a semi-retired groundwater engineer with over 40 years consulting experience, both in Canada and overseas.  His experience includes: site selection and developing production wells, assessment of existing well performances, assessment of the potential impacts of ground infiltration of treated sewage effluent and stormwater into the ground, migration of contaminant plumes from hydrocarbon spill sites, leachate containment at landfills and assessing the impact of aggregate and mineral extraction on groundwater flow systems. He is a member of the Province of BC Ground Water Advisory Board.

Mike Wei, P. Eng.

Mike Wei, P. Eng. currently works for the Ministry of Environment, Water Stewardship Division and has worked 26 years in groundwater assessment and monitoring projects, as well as development and implementation of groundwater policies with the provincial government. Mike received his B. A. Sc. in Geological Engineering from UBC (1982) and his MS in Hydrology from the New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology (in 1991).
