The sanitary sewer modeling training begins with the basics of hydraulic theory as it applies to sewer collection modeling, and then takes participants through the sanitary sewer data model. Both steady-state and extended-period simulations will be presented in this course. Sewer load allocation and model calibration will be discussed. Participants will become familiar with EPA-SWMM (transport compartment only) and use the software to reinforce concepts with the workshop problems.
Werner de Schaetzen, Ph.D., P.Eng. GeoAdvice Engineering Inc.
Dr. de Schaetzen is a leading expert in computer modeling of water and wastewater systems. His work on genetic algorithm optimization applied to water systems has gained him both international recognition and numerous award prizes. Dr. de Schaetzen is also the leading author of over 25 papers published in international journals, conference proceedings and internal research reports.
Dr. de Schaetzen conducted in person training for over 1,000 engineers in water and sewer systems modeling, optimization and analysis in Canada, USA and UK. He also designed, implemented and maintained several hydraulic modeling software applications (GAnet/H2OSURGE/H2OMAP). He often peer-reviews scientific journals including Urban Water (UK) and the ASCE Journal of Water Resources Planning and Management (USA).
