Professional Liability Insurance is an important aspect of engineering and geoscience practice. This session will provide you with information on why you should carry insurance, what options are available to you, and what you need to know to protect your assets. Topics covered include:
- Role of the broker, underwrite and reinsurer
- Current insurers in the A&E market
- Differences within policy wording
- Claims made
- How premiums are determined
- Policy limitations to be aware of
Lawrence has over 30 years experience in the insurance industry – 20 years specializing in Professional Liability Insurance.
He started his career in the London insurance market where he was responsible for the servicing of large international accounts. In 1987, Lawrence joined Jardine Lloyd Thompson Canada Inc. with the Professional Liability Department, using his extensive experience in servicing our many clients in the design consulting area. He has experience in the development of new products and programs for Environmental and Professional Liability Insurance and specializes in placing coverage for large international accounts and project insurance.
Lawrence has a BA Hons, is an Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute, a Chartered Insurance Practitioner and holds a Canadian Risk Management designation. He has given numerous lectures and seminars for architects and engineers on Risk Management, Professional Liability, Environmental insurance, Design/Build and Turnkey projects. He also acts as a consultant to various design professional associations.
