Successful projects result from good time and cost control, effective team leadership and highly motivated teams. This is achieved by using a team approach in planning, scheduling, monitoring and evaluating projects. This seminar combines technical project management tools with the team processes needed to ensure that the tools work.
The workshop is intended for managers, supervisors, specialists and staff who are involved in, or expect to be involved in, projects of any size or type, either as a leader or as a team member. The concepts presented apply to projects of all sizes and types, from physical construction to softer projects such as changing the work-process in a department.
The course is a workshop - wherever appropriate, learning takes place through experience. Teams of four to six participants are formed during the first day as part of the team development process and will work together throughout the course. Near the end of the course each team prepares a project plan, making use of the techniques learned. This provides the opportunity for participants to experience a collaborative planning process and see its effectiveness first-hand.
On completion of the program, participants will:
- understand the principles of developing and building effective project teams
- understand techniques for planning and scheduling projects, establishing positive project practices and procedures, monitoring and reporting of progress
- be able to use a collaborative process for planning, scheduling and monitoring their projects
- have a personal action plan for improving their effectiveness on projects
- have an agreement among all on new practices to implement at work to improve project management.
