How should I respond to an RFP? What should be in a proposal? What is the difference between a proposal and a bid? In this seminar, we will review how an owner should write an Invitation to Tender and a Request for Proposal, and how a contractor or consultant should read them to prepare a bid or proposal. We will also review recent developments in the applicable law and strategies to minimise the risk of a complaint or dispute.
John Haythorne has been a partner with Bull, Housser & Tupper LLP since 1988. During 1997-1998, he was the President of APEGBC and he served from 2000 to 2002 as one of British Columbia's Board Members to the Canadian Council of Professional Engineers. Prior to entering law, John worked as a Professional Engineer for the City of Vancouver as Acting Streets Engineer, responsible for all Vancouver streets.
John's practice focuses on engineering and construction law with a special emphasis on negotiating and drafting contracts, and public-private partnerships. His practice includes providing advice regarding the law of tender and requests for proposals, and the competition processes involved in public-private partnerships. John previously practised construction litigation and municipal law.

APEGBC is an AIBC/CES registered provider offering an AIBC-Accredited activity for 2.5 Non-Core Learning Units.
