Seminar

This seminar provides the transportation and highway engineering professionals an executive overview to road safety audit. Road safety audit is becoming an increasingly popular and important tool in improving road safety. Originally introduced in the U.K. in the late 1980's, it is now widely used internationally. The Transportation Association of Canada published a Canadian Road Safety Audit Guide in 2001 for Canadian practitioners. The British Columbia Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure regularly conducts road safety audits on its design and engineering projects.

Seminar Outline:

  • Introduction
  • Crash causation
  • What is a road safety audit?
  • Why do we need road safety audits?
  • Conducting a road safety audit
  • When to do a road safety audit?
  • Who should conduct a road safety audit?
  • What to do with a road safety audit report?
