The response spectrum and ductility concept in the seismic response of buildings will also be discussed. The requirement and background to the current building design codes will be introduced. Topics covered will include:
* Risk analysis and management
* Risk-based evaluation of buildings and bridges for retrofit prioritization
* Response spectrum and ductility concepts
* Seismic load analysis according to the 2005 National Building Code
