All applicants for registration as professional engineers, professional geoscientists or limited licence in British Columbia are required to complete the Law and Ethics program. This requirement may be met in one of two ways:
- by attending the seminar in person ; or
- by purchasing and viewing the CD version of the seminar. Upon completion, the candidate must sign a declaration that he/she has viewed the contents of the CD set in their entirety.

Employment Law
What happens when there is a dispute in the workplace because one party is seen to have not fulfilled their obligation? Learn about Employer and Employee duties as well as the laws that govern the rights of individuals in the workplace. Emphasis is placed on Common Law, the Employment Standards Act, the Human Rights Code, and the Labour Relations Code.
Ethics Session
The Professions - Engineering and Geoscience
What do Professional Associations and Regulatory Bodies have to do with your practice? APEGBC, CCPE, and CCPG play a key role in the practice of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists. This session will look at the activities and responsibilities of these three associations.
Professional Practice and Ethics
Will you be subject to a Practice Review or ever have a complaint (valid or not) brought against you? What will you do when this happens? Professional Practice and Ethics are important cornerstones in the practice of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists. Issues such as quality management, practice review, discipline and enforcement will be discussed with active participation from the audience.
Gilbane Gold: A Case Study
What would you do if you were faced with an ethical dilemma that pitted you between the safety of the public and the advancement of your career? Two videos will be shown to present the fictional case of Gilbane Gold. The audience will participate in discussions regarding the ethical issues and disciplinary processes of this case.
Discipline Hearings
When a member's conduct is called into question, the issue may sometimes lead to a disciplinary hearing. This section reviews the investigation and discipline process.
