| There are many types of membership that you can apply for:
- Professional Geoscientist (P.Geo.) Meets all academic and experience requirements, licensed to practice geoscience at a professional level, takes professional responsibility for work.
- Geoscientist-in-Training (GIT) Meets academic requirements, does geoscience work under the supervision of a P.Geo. and is gaining the necessary experience to reach a professional level, can use "geoscientist" in title when being supervised by a licensed P.Geo. and including the postnominal GIT or words 'Geoscientists in Training'
- Provisional Member Meets academic requirements, has more than four years of approved experience outside of Canada and is working to gain the required year of geoscience work in a Canadian environment, does geoscience work under the supervision of a P.Geo. , can use "geoscientist" in job title when being supervised by a licensed P.Geo. and including the words 'Provisional Member'
- Non-Resident Licensee Meets all academic and experience requirements, licensed to practice geoscience at a professional level, takes professional responsibility for work, does NOT hold Canadian citizenship or permanent residency.
