Inter-Association Mobility Geoscientists

Thank you for your interest in becoming a member of APEGBC.

Being an active Professional Geoscientist (P.Geo.) or Geoscientist-In-Training (GIT) allows you to more easily gain membership with other Canadian Associations/Ordre.

Becoming a P.Geo. or GIT with APEGBC will not affect your membership in any other Associations/Ordre. You can be an active member in as many Associations/Ordre as you wish. However, you must pay the required annual dues for each Associations/Ordre you belong to. If you wish to resign from any Associations/Ordre, you will have to contact them directly to do so.

If you are an active P.Geo., you will not be required to rewrite the Professional Practice Examination or take the Law & Ethics Seminar if:

  • you have already written this examination in another province, or
  • you have been licenced for more than 5 years.

How do I apply?

For a typical application between two provincial Associations, we require the following items:

  • A certified copy of your Canadian Citizenship (citizenship card, birth certificate or current Canadian passport) or Permanent Resident Status.

To have a copy certified, make a photocopy of your document and ask a P.Eng., P.Geo., or Notary Public (other than yourself) to sign and stamp it as a "true copy of the original".  Alternatively, you may bring your original document to the APEGBC office and we can make a certified copy for you at no cost.  Please do not send your original citizenship card, birth certificate, current Canadian Passport or Permanent Resident Status Card to APEGBC.

  • An application processing fee. Please check the FEE SCHEDULE for the most current fees.
  • A Confirmation Request Form filled out by all Associations/Ordre of which you are, or have ever been, a member. Please fill out the top portion of the form and fax it to the appropriate Associations/Ordre.  They will complete the form and return it directly to APEGBC.

How long will it take?

Once all your documents have been received, it normally takes APEGBC 1-2 weeks to review your application and grant registration or enrolment.

Once registered, you will be sent a welcome package and a certificate.

Professional Geoscientists will also be issued a stamp.

What happens after I apply?

If you do not meet APEGBC's experience requirements you may be requested to obtain additional work experience.

How much will it cost?

Please check the FEE SCHEDULE for the most current fees.

There will be a one-time Inter-Association application fee, for the processing and assessment of your application. Once you are registered, you will be charged a one-time licensing fee, to cover the cost of issuing your licence. You will also be invoiced for your pro-rated annual fee.
