The APEGBC/CEBC Budget Guidelines for Consulting Engineering Services-2009have been endorsed by the Consulting Engineers of BC (CEBC) Board and the APEGBC Council. In addition to providing guidance to clients in establishing fee budgets for engineering services on their projects the document provides information on the selection and appointment of professional engineers providing consulting engineering services. Importantly the document identifies that the engineering fee budgets provided reflect the level of service professional engineers must provide to meet ;
- the standard of care identified in the APEGBC Practice Guidelines
- their professional obligations under the Engineers and Geoscientists Act
-quality management processes as defined in the Quality Management Bylaws under the Engineers and Geoscientists Act
CEBC has issued a Consulting Engineers Fee Guideline for 2008. This document provides a guideline of standard hourly rates for engineers and technicians/technologists providing consulting services in BC and can be viewed on the CEBC website at http://www.cebc.org/pulse/cebcFeeGuide08.pdf.
APEGBC supports the charging of fees for engineering and geoscience services which allows its members to fulfill their duty to the public while providing an appropriate standard of care.
