East Kootenay Regional Science Fair - Help Needed

Date:

February 23rd to February 24th, 2011

Time:

Judging takes place on Tuesday,, February 22nd, 2011.  An orientation session occurs from 8:45 a.m. – 9:30 a.m., followed by opening ceremonies and judging from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. 

Location: College of the Rockies (Cranbrook Campus)

Details:

At this point, they need approximately 25 judges (for an estimated 40 projects).

Public viewing of the Science Projects is on February 24th, 2011.  Every Year APEGBC East Kootenay Chapter provides a cash prize.

If you are able to participate that would be great.  You can contact David Dick (Head Judge) via email at  ddick@cotr.bc.ca to indicate your interest in participating.

Thank you for your support of our youth and APEGBC’s School Outreach program.  It is greatly appreciated.

Science Celebration - Volunteers Needed

January 30th, 2010

10:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m

Location: Invermere, BC

Details:

This weekend (January 30th, 2010) is Science Celebration in Invermere, BC .  Science World’s live demonstrations are the main attraction.

APEGBC East Kootenay Branch is looking for volunteers to help work the APEGBC display booth and to help setup/cleanup (setup can occur Friday 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. or on Saturday morning from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.)

East Kootenay Branch AGM

Cost: Those attending will be responsible to pay for their own meals and drinks.
Details:

Menu to be confirmed – either a smorgasbord or a choice of 2 or 3 entrees (this will be confirmed later – depending upon turnout – the more people the better chance of a smorgasbord).

Presentation will be by the Mt. Baker Wild Robotics Club – A group of 8 students under the guidance of one of their teachers formed a robotics club to compete in the Skills Canada Competition that was held on April 22, 2009 in Abbotsford, BC.  They will present a summary of their experiences on building a robot to compete and competing in Skills Canada.  The presentation will include a demonstration of the robot.
